And always, ALWAYS have questions prepared for the panel.
Heard that before? Not bad advice. Helps to show you’ve given a prospective job forethought while simultaneously demonstrating a humbleness of ‘I don’t profess to know everything about this role or you or your organization’.
But, questions. That’s, plural?
What about, just 1 question? Or how ‘bout 3? Is more than a couple pushing it? Is there a sweet spot? A secret sauce as to the perfect number that’d unequivocally demonstrate my excitement for the position?! How about 33⅓? Would that be an insult? A Final Insult? Oh Lord, save me from myself. What would Frank Drebin do?
Best not overthink it. Have between 2-3 questions tee’d up for them. That’s the secret sauce right there [marinara not included].
What to ask, you ask? Idunno. It’s your interview. What’s important to you?
Hard in’s and hard out’s at the end of a work day?
Autonomy in an independent contributor role?
An organization that offers dental?
All of these: great questions by the way. Seriously. This is the stuff of substance - nothing is too big or too little to ask at the end of an interview.
You may find with time and getting to audition for roles with employers you really want to work for that, these questions disappear. Ergo, you go in with them written down and by the end, the panel’s answered some or all of them organically throughout the conversation. That’s a good sign. Don’t think you’re reading into that too much if it feels like a good sign. It is.
But like I’ve seen it said before….
Active job seekers beware - a major soft skill worth showing up with is, your ability to have self-awareness during a selection process. - O.J. Simpson
…. O.J. Simpson?! Wow these movies did not age well. How do I change the JPEG? Mom, thanks for offering b-you did what on your tablet the other day? Huh? Sure, yeah. Haha yeah. I totally knew how to do that on Android. Uh huh. Ok love you, by-yes okay Mom, you can show me the JPEG thing next time you’re down. *Click*
(That was me having a pretend convo with my Mother who now knows more than I do about technology. I’ll hold for ‘newsletter applause’ which, I assume to be the sound of dozens of you unsubscribing or pulling your trigger-finger before it accidently signed you up for more of this.)
That’s um, that’s it all. What can I say. It’s March-break-Dad-duty fatigue again this year. And I know, I know - it's April.

Readings! 📰
Ok this one’s not a complete cop-out…. about ~25% of you are coming from Substack directly, meaning ¾ of you don’t see relevant article shares on the platform’s Chat feature. So I’m closing the Chat, and will include anything of relevancy that I’ve stumbled upon since the last Résum•eh post here 👇🏼
Hopefully those had nuggets and takeaways worth pairing with your morning coffee or energy drink - and make sure you watch this 👇🏼 after you've gulped it down, so I'm not blamed for any spit-takes. And hey if y’saw it already give it another watch because it’s too good to limit to a one-and-done.
Games! 🏟️
Finally, unreal and unrelated:
